The press workshop of C3D Ltd., introduced a new automated, combined sheet metal forming tool into the series production. In addition to cutting the raw material to size, the self-designed tool simultaneously bends it to shape and punctures the necessary holes.
The tool’s complex operation was tested in a 3D CAD environment by the staff of C3D before its production. The motion of the tool-elements was tested by kinematic simulation, while a finite element method examined the wear of critical elements.
